If you have booked a maternity or family session outside, your shoot will either take place at sunrise or sunset. The light at these times of day is absolutely magical and well worth an early start or pushing back bedtime an hour or two for this one off occasion. It will be an adventure you will remember and will be worth it I promise!
If you have booked a studio session your session we can arrange the shoot to suit your schedule.

As a mum of two myself and former primary school teacher. I know all too well the minefield of dealing with small (and sometimes big) children! Fear not, I have seen it all, been there, got the t-shirt (and the extra wrinkles to prove it).
My primary objective on arrival for your session is to develop a relationship with the children in the shoot. If little ones are shy I will keep my distance allowing them to warm up and gradually and gently, maybe asking them to help me with small tasks before getting them in front of the camera. If your children arrive excited and confident I will embrace it and allow them to show their personality.
My sessions are long enough to allow upsets to come an go, tears to be cuddled away and snacks to be eaten. And absolutely no judgement from me if bribery is used!
For my newborn/baby shoots, they are very much baby-led. I allow plenty of time for feeds, changes and cuddles. My style of shoot is very natural, I will gently pose baby mainly in your arms which generally helps to keep them content and sleepy. If baby is not keen to sleep during your session, no worries. I have many beautiful positions to pose you in with baby wonderfully awake. We also get the chance to capture precious expressions that your baby will only make during these fleeting newborn weeks. This is something you will want to bottle up and keep forever. Here in lies the importance of documenting these moments in photographs.

A bit of light drizzle can add magic to your shoot. So unless it’s pouring down, let’s embrace the great British weather and go all in on the atmospheric, moody shoot vibe.

My beautiful natural light studio is based in Hitchin town centre, Hertfordshire. A gorgeous vibrant market town, perfect for a coffee or a mooch around before or after your shoot. There are plenty of car parks close by the studio. The studio will be ready to welcome you with fresh coffee, biscuits, comfortable sofas, gorgeous outfits and beautiful backdrops. Get ready to relax whilst I create art with you and your family in the frame.
If you had other ideas for your shoot, crashing waves, your favourite secluded beach, a forest with morning mist, summer sunset in golden fields…I’m here for it. Just pop your ideas in the contact form and we can chat over your ideas and make it happen.

Abso-frinkin-lutely!!!
It is my passion to enable people, women and Mamas in particular to feel empowered, strong and beautiful during their shoots. I will guide you through your session giving you prompts and poses so that you are confident in what you are doing during the session. I am much more comfortable being behind the camera than in front, so i know how you feel. It is my priority during your session to help you feel at ease and relaxed as this comes across in your final images.

The comfort and safety of your baby is my number one priority during your newborn shoot.
As a mother of two myself I know first hand how important it is to feel at ease with your photographer and know they will handle my baby with care. As well as experience with my own children, experience gained during my career as a newborn photographer since 2019 and my earlier career in primary teaching. I have received specialised training in posing newborns safely and also have undergone a red cross children's first aid course. You can feel reassured that your newborn, baby or child will be in safe hands during your shoot.
